The Sony WF-C510 are Sony’s entry-level truly wireless earbuds, built to bring the brand’s audio reputation to a genuinely affordable price point, without stripping out the features people actually use day to day.
All-Day Comfort in a Compact Shape
Sony designed the WF-C510 to be light and compact, aiming for a fit that stays comfortable through a full day of wear rather than something you notice — and want to take out — after an hour.
Battery Life and Quick Charging
You get up to 11 hours of playback from the earbuds themselves, and up to 22 hours total once you factor in the charging case. If you’re ever caught with a low battery, a 5-minute quick charge buys you roughly an hour of playback — enough to get through a commute or a workout without waiting around for a full charge.
Multipoint Connection for Switching Devices
Multipoint connection lets the WF-C510 stay paired to two devices at once — your laptop and phone, for example — and switch between them automatically. That means you can take a call on your phone mid-meeting without manually re-pairing anything.
Ambient Sound Mode
Rather than sealing you off completely, Ambient Sound Mode lets outside noise through on purpose — useful for staying aware of traffic while walking, hearing an announcement at the airport, or simply not feeling cut off from a room full of people.
Hands-Free Calls and Everyday Durability
A built-in microphone handles hands-free calling, so you don’t need to pull your phone out of your pocket to answer. And with an IPX4 water-resistance rating, splashes and sweat won’t stop the music — whether that’s getting caught in light rain or pushing through a sweaty workout.
Better Sound From Compressed Files
Sony’s DSEE technology works in the background to restore detail lost when music is compressed for streaming, which noticeably helps if most of your listening comes from streaming apps rather than lossless files.
Who Should Buy This
- Anyone who switches regularly between a laptop and phone and wants seamless multipoint pairing
- Commuters and walkers who want Ambient Sound Mode instead of full noise isolation
- Streaming-music listeners who’ll benefit from DSEE’s audio restoration on compressed tracks
- Buyers who want a trusted Sony product without paying flagship-earbud prices
Frequently Asked Questions
Does multipoint mean I can listen to audio from two devices at once?
No — multipoint keeps the earbuds connected to two devices simultaneously, but audio still plays from one at a time, with automatic switching when a call or audio request comes in on the other.
Is Ambient Sound Mode the same as noise cancellation?
No — it’s the opposite. Ambient Sound Mode intentionally lets outside noise in, while noise cancellation actively blocks it out. The WF-C510 is built around ambient awareness rather than ANC.
Can these handle a sweaty workout?
The IPX4 rating covers splashes and sweat from any direction, so they’re suited for workouts and light rain — just not submersion or swimming.
